You can get some extraordinary things in Seattle…..delicious seafood, coffee in every flavor, tickets to the latest grunge band. What has been seemingly harder to find in the Emerald City is an extraordinary quarterback. With the 2012 season looming, Seahawks fans are still waiting patiently to see if one of our three quarterbacks will emerge as a standout.
The excitement over the acquisition of Matt Flynn has subsided as reports of underwhelming performance at OTAs and mini camp have emerged. Tavaris Jackson seems to be performing well, but memories of last season are still fresh in our minds. And Russell Wilson? He is apparently not out of the race either.
The apparent lack of a standout amongst these three is disturbing. Does this mean Seattle has several mediocre quarterbacks and not a great one? Although Pete Carroll seems to point at Tavaris Jackson as number one at this point, he is quick to mention that Wilson and Flynn are still in the running.
As Seattle fans read the news from training camps and sip on our extraordinary coffee, we have a message for Coach Carroll. You can only wait so long for the cream to rise to the top. Sometimes, you have to stir it yourself.
