When news broke last month that OLB Terrell Suggs injured his Achilles tendon and was expected to miss the entire 2012 season, hearts of Ravens fans everywhere stopped beating for a second. “How could this happen?” We wondered.
Well, the reports are conflicting. According to Suggs, he suffered the injury during a conditioning program. However, reports surfaced earlier this week that some gym employees in Arizona witnessed him playing pickup basketball, and that’s actually how the injury occurred.
Nevertheless, the Ravens now have to decide whether or not to continue paying the reigning Defensive Player of the Year (it’s likely they will). They have the right to not do so under the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Even if Suggs was playing basketball, what’s the big deal? Maybe that was his way of staying in shape.
I don’t care if he got hurt playing basketball or walking to the mailbox. Suggs is adament that he will return this season. I certainly hope so. We need him healthy and back on the field as soon as possible.

It is amazing how the media is going in on Suggs about his injury. I do like the way the Ravens organization is handling it. To them it is not a concern. To be honest it is not a big deal on how he injured his ankle unless he was just reckless with his behavior which is not the case. As long as he is determined to get back to the Ravens then there are no concerns on my part. I’m sure he will be back.
Excellent article. It was detailed and very informative.
