NFL News, Philadelphia Eagles

To Tweet or Not to Tweet

Goodness gracious!  We have had a week of non-stop craziness in the world of Twitter as far as the Philadelphia Eagles are concerned, but Donovan McNabb’s chat with NBC SportsTalk unequivocally put the cherry on top.

NOT TO TWEET:

Wide receiver Desean Jackson is clearly happy with his new $47 million contract expressing via Twitter…

“We came from nothing so a course we going to embrace it when we make it.”

- Desean Jackson (@DeseanJackson10) June 18, 2012

No harm no foul until a celebrity jeweler took note and decided to respond several times with his own opinion of what Jackson should do with his money.  Apparently Jackson has a remaining balance with Shyne Jewelers.  Let’s embrace paying off our debt shall we?

TWEET:

Then of course we have the Cowgirls and whoever is foolish enough to run their Twitter account, poor soul.

Can whoever tweeted this please take a gander at the outcome of the two Eagles/Cowboys games in the 2011 season?  In Week 8 the Eagles won 34-7  and then defeated the Cowboys again in Week 16 20-7.  Vick really had the last laugh on his 32nd birthday!  The QB went a combined 39-for-60 for 572 yards with four touchdowns and not a single interception….so you’re looking forward to that Cowboys?  Guess you enjoy losing.

Thank goodness for the @EaglesInsider twitter account…

“Did someone burn the tapes from 2011? RT @DallasCowboys: Happy Birthday Michael Vick from #CowboysNation…bit.ly/LehhNh”

In other news:

Donovan McNabb has been a distant memory in the NFL.  He had a great run in Philadelphia before the debacle with the Redskins and the Vikings, but has his time passed?  McNabb stated today that he feels he has an 80-90 percent chance of returning to the NFL this season.  He also mentioned that he has been contacted by a few teams after slimming down.  It’s scary to think that this idea might not be so far fetched for the 13 year vet.  The QB position on several teams is a big giant question mark right now so who wouldn’t want a six-time Pro Bowler?  He would be as good a back up as any.

Agents and teams should really start focusing on media training ,especially social media.  It’s only a matter of time before teams start having clauses in contracts with regards to consequences for bringing negative attention to the organization through any of these outlets…freedom of speech or not.
