WE LOVE MINI-CAMP

GOOD NEWS!!! GOOD NEWS!!! A big “YEAH!!!” for all Bengals players participating in the recent OTAs (Organized Team Activities). Things are also off to a good start with mini-camp this week with people downright giddy to see cornerback Leon Hall well ahead of schedule with his rehab on his torn left Achilles tendon. Even better, the Bengals only have one unsigned draft pick. That’s right folks. We have a TEAM participating in mini-camp!!!

Don’t Believe The Hype (because this may be the only time I quote Flavor Flav): I really, really tried to let it go, but people kept asking me about the 12 year prison sentence recently handed down to “ex-Bengals player” Nate Webster. Uhm, that is so not fair. Dude ONLY played ONE season with the Bengals. He was originally drafted out of “The U” (University of Miami) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he spent three seasons and won a Super Bowl ring. Then, he played that one season in Cincinnati before ending his career with the Denver Broncos after two seasons with their team. So… Nope, we are not gonna claim that criminal. Not gonna take any more media mud slinging without the Buccaneers and Broncos claiming their fair share. Yeah, I said it…

Fantasy Football Prediction (because it’s never too early to strategize): The clock began ticking when those first email invitations went out inviting people to start joining 2012 Fantasy Football leagues. Call me biased, but I suggest you take the Cincinnati Defense for your fantasy football team and not let that opportunity escape. They may not be your starting defense yet, but I look forward to convincing you otherwise when the season starts.

Shameless Rumor Mongering (because I know I can’t verify it): Remember those rumors about Braylon Edwards and the Bengals acting interested in each other? Do things change now that Chad OchoCinco no longer plays for the Patriots? Okay, okay… I know there are LOTS of reasons why a return to the Nasty ‘Nati seems preposterous. However, Chad seemed to humbly accept a lower position on the wide receiver depth chart with the Patriots last season. To me, that speaks to the possibility of professional maturity for him. Imagine Chad as a #2 option and veteran leader… *shrugs* Well, don’t worry too much about it. He just signed with the Miami Dolphins.  I said it was shameless rumor mongering that I couldn’t verify, didn’t I???

There was first grade, and there was understanding a first down. That’s Valencia’s earliest memory of “learning” about football while watching games with her dad and brother. Over the years, her passion for football has grown. She is now a self-professed Bengals fan though occasionally forced into a prayer closet for that type of confession. As a Southerner, she always has love for Georgia red clay and those Dawgs all day! Likewise, she is a proud alumnus of Florida A&M University and bleeds orange and green for life!!!

When she is not scheming on ways to win her fantasy football league championship, a perfect day for her is a lazy Sunday afternoon on the couch in comfy PJs while watching the NFL on a large flat screen TV and eating wings. The best part would be finishing the day with some ESPN Sports Center and Reese’s peanut butter cups for dessert.
