The New York Jets training camp starts today and I know the only concern with fans is restoring order and gaining back the respect the Jets once had. Do you remember when the Jets had the best rushing offense and overall defense in 2009? Oh, those are the times I miss. The Jets have done a lot this year to make them a playoff worthy team again and they have their eye on the prize- the super bowl prize that is. Even Rex Ryan decided to tone down his well known ‘trash talking’ and had this to say:
“Just because you build something doesn’t mean you will take off from where you were,” Ryan said. “You have to go back to the ground floor, and start again.”

The Jets have also done some more revamping. On Monday they announced that they traded a conditional 7th round pick to the Carolina Panthers for OT Jeff Otah. Another announcement was also made today. That trade is currently in jeopardy as Otah failed his physical. Tebow, the Jets backup quarterback and first-string personal punt protector, could also be used on the kickoff team. A move I think may or may not work in their favor. In a way they might be doing too much with Tebow but we will have to wait and see because using him this much can be what is needed. There was also the tension between the players, more notably with Holmes and Sanchez that derailed the team chemistry last season. The Jets have been able to look at everything negative to help build a better 2012 season including reviewing their 8-8 record.
Ryan has also made some changes himself, even enlisting a mentor going only by the name of “my little sensei,” which is a Japanese word for a “wise teacher.” Even GM Mike Tannenbaum has seen the change in the team and Ryan’s new mentor; he says sensei is a “special person who has bettered all of us.” One thing I know about the Jets is they always have a way of being the talk around NFL town. Hopefully their new positive environment will last throughout the season. As the Jets work on fixing the rift in the team, Jets fans can only hope that this year is their year.
