Philadelphia Eagles

Ring the Alarm?

Beyonce made this song famous, but Philadelphia Eagles RB Dion Lewis may have made it infamous.  Hotels give guests these little things called keys that allow them to come in and out as they please, but apparently that wasn’t an option for Eagles RB Dion Lewis.  Instead Lewis and his brother thought it was best to pull the fire alarm around 4 a.m. ET Sunday morning to gain access to the Albany, NY Hampton Inn where they were staying.  Newsflash!! This isn’t college football and you don’t gain cool points amongst your teammates for foolish things like this Lewis.

At the very least, I’m glad Lewis was mature enough to come forward and make a formal public apology…he has that going for him.  Looks to me like the 2011 fifth-round draft pick from Pittsburgh needs to stay away from alcohol in order to prevent any further drunken misjudgements.

“It was never my intention to cause any public alarm or damage any property.  I am sorry for any embarrassment and inconvenience that my actions have caused,” Lewis claimed.  “I am committed to continuing to conduct myself in conformance with the high moral, ethical and professional standards that I have my entire life and of which so many others rightly expect of me.  Because the matter is still in the hands of the court system, I cannot comment any further.”

On another note it’s borderline ridiculous how exasperated this story has become.  Lewis is being made to look as though he committed a serious crime.  He may have caused a few people to wake up from sleeping, but he wasn’t driving drunk nor did he physically harm anyone.  It’s disturbing how this creates so much news, yet former Raiders DE Anthony Smith being faced with three new murder charges and potentially the death penalty has seemingly flown under the radar.  Food for thought!
