49ers Preseason Preview

The 49ers will kick off the 2012 preseason tonight, and it looks like the team is feeling good and ready to play. The 49ers practiced for just over two hours on Wednesday wearing helmets, shoulder pads and shorts, finalizing game plans for the game against the Minnesota Vikings.

First-round draft pick A.J. Jenkins has put together some of his best practices leading up to the matchup against the Vikings. According to CSNBayArea.com’s Matt Maiocco, the no. 30 overall pick had the best day of any 49ers receiver in training camp on Tuesday. Jenkins caught six passes in team and 7-on-7 drills and told Maiocco he still found areas he can improve on. Running backs LaMichael James and Kendall Hunter got a lot of work in as well, as the practice was very run-heavy.

Michael Crabtree will also make his preseason debut tonight when he starts opposite Ted Ginn Jr. as the team’s top wideouts. Quarterback Alex Smith has noted how sharp Crabtree and Ginn Jr. have been looking this offseason, with Harbaugh adding what a great camp Ginn Jr. has had. It looks like the hard work these guys have put in will definitely pay off.

This is without a doubt one of the most exciting times of the year. Gearing up for football season is what so many passionate fans have been waiting for!

  1. The 49ers run offense, run defense, pass defense, and special teams offense and
defense were top notch last year. With the improvements that Taylor notes to this
season’s pass offense the Niners should be tough to beat.
