All eyes on Peterson

He’s back! Since the injury heard around the world back on last December 24, Adrian Peterson is finally back in action.

On December 26 it was announced that Peterson was placed on the injured reserve list due to a torn ACL and MCL. No one had any idea of what the future would hold for this talented running back. Over the last seven-and-a-half months all he had time to do was make sure he healed and recovered from a very damaging injury.

But since Vikings training camp began, Peterson has not had the best of luck. On July 7thhe was arrested on a charge of resisting arrest at a night club in Houston, Texas. And then two weeks ago there was the allergic reaction to Jambalaya which he was hospitalized for. On Friday Peterson was unable to play in the preseason home opener in which they lost to the 49ers.

But then finally some great news! Peterson was taken off the PUP list two days later on the 12th. On Tuesday, Peterson finally put on full pads at the Training Camp and was going full force, resuming practice in 11-on-11 team drills at Vikings camp. Peterson does not only seem anxious to get back on the field, but also seemed excited.

Peterson spoke to reporters. ”Oh man, it’s just the next step…I feel good that I’m off. I can get back out here with the guys on the field and get back to playing. Get back into the offense and slowly squeeze back in there.” Frazier and Saxon definitely tried to “take it easy” on Peterson today even by warning the defense and caution them about not hitting Peterson.

Even HOFer Jerry Rice was quoted on ESPN’s NFL Live saying, “I feel that I rushed myself back to the football field. And I think that with Adrian Peterson, he’s doing the same thing. Because we are accustomed to being out there with the guys, sweating with the guys, fighting on the football field. And if you’re not able to do that you just don’t feel connected. And that’s the reason why I rushed back. I hope he doesn’t do the same thing.” We are all hoping that is not the case. After Peterson’s first practice on Tuesday he seemed not only in good spirits, but also very optimistic. Although it seems as if he is anxious to be on the field for almost every play, it also seems that he is not only listening to the doctors and coaches, but his body as well.

It is still not determined as to whether he will play in the August 24th game against the Chargers. The Vikings are in rebuilding mode and need to keep everyone not only healthy, but active too. All in all it is nice to see “All Day” or “Purple Jesus” back in shoulder pads and ready to play ball!

Born & raised Jersey girl. From a young age I have always loved athletics. From the time I was 5 I was in dance/gymnastics and carried on until college. I have participated in sports such as softball, soccer, and lacrosse. After college I was blessed to be able to coach the sport I grew up loving, lacrosse, for a few years then moved to coaching cheerleading. Although I am no longer coaching I still am an avid sports fan. I miss being involved in athletics and feel honored to now be a part of the Her Game Life Team. I am a diehard fan of the Sixers (#ShowYaLuv), Mets (M-E-T-S METS–METS- METS), University of Michigan (#GoBlue), and above all else the Vikings. I definitely bleed purple! I am currently working towards my Master’s Degree and my goal is to finish just in time for the 2013 school year so I am able to get back into coaching. Besides sports being a passion of mine, I enjoy cooking, spending time with close friends/family, and offering my time to volunteer to different causes.

  1. Great read! I never like to see people go down with an injury so I hope he gets back to 100%. When he’s healthy he’s fun to watch. Keep up the good work Danielle. I am looking forward to more of your articles to come.

  2. Awesome read!! As a “Purple People Eater” I am excited to see Adrian Peterson back in uniform, but I’m a firm believer that he will caution himself and listen to his doctors as well as, his body upon making a complete return. Staying healthy will determine his longevity in his career, because his talent and work ethic has already landed him on the list of the top ten RB’s in the league even while on the injured list. I look forward to watching this season unfold.

    • Thanks lady! You know we are going to be excited to see how he is going to perform but I know we both have high hopes! Lets try to plan a trip out there for a game sometime! Thanks for reading and commenting. Much appreciated!
