It’s the day fans have been waiting for. The Raiders are opening up training camp to Raider Nation. Tickets were so in demand for this weekend’s practice, it took just 15 minutes to sell out.
This just shows you that Raiders fans are serious about their team. I can already see them, waiting in line to get into the stadium, decked out in their silver and black, wearing those crazy hats, some might even break out the face paint and of course, most will be wearing jerseys. This got me thinking, which jersey is the most popular in the Raider Nation?
To get the answer, I called the Raider Image store in Sacramento. Turns out the number one selling jersey among both men and women, is Darren McFadden. In fact, it has been for the last three years. This wasn’t too surprising considering McFadden has been the most popular player on the team. What I did find interesting was Raider Image said that could all end this season.
If there is a new number one, it will not be the current number two taking over. Right now, Carson Palmer is the second highest selling jersey. He’s been a pretty big name since his days at USC, and he’s a quarterback, they’re always fan favorites, so this one shouldn’t have surprised me. But it did. I guess it was because he only played half a season last year, but apparently he made quite the impression on the men and women of Raider Nation.
Now, back to the possible shakeup I alluded to a moment ago. Raider Image is anxiously awaiting a new shipment of men’s jerseys that are expected to sell more than McFadden’s. Those jerseys belong to Denarius Moore and Sebastian Janikowski. Both are coming off great seasons and their jerseys are apparently in demand. I was told in the past, the stores didn’t get a lot of Janikowski gear and when they did get player t-shirts, they would fly off the shelves. It’s going to be interesting to see who ends up on top this year.
So, what about you? If you had the cash to spend, which jersey would you pick?
