49ers Week 1 Preview: On the Road to Green Bay

I can’t believe the NFL season is finally here! This might possibly be the best time of the year. Summer is ending, fall is approaching and every week there are great football games to look forward to.

Because of the incredible success the 49ers had last year, they are facing a tougher schedule this season. We’re talking about trips to face the Patriots and Saints in their home stadiums, just to name two. So who do the 49ers face in week 1? That would be the all-mighty Green Bay Packers.

Faithful fans shouldn’t get too nervous about the tougher schedule just yet. Remember how well the 49ers played on the road last year? The team went 6-2 away from Candlestick Park in 2011, equaling as many road victories as the team had in three previous seasons. The players seem to embrace playing on the road and love the challenge that comes with it. Tight end Delanie Walker said it best: “Now, we’re about to go on the road. It’s about that time, everybody’s excited, everybody’s ready to get the game plan in and do what we do best.”

According to the most recent depth chart, things are looking good. The offensive firepower of Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, Frank Gore and Randy Moss, combined with the all-powerful defense, will make for a great match-up against a tough Green Bay team. Oh, there’s also this amazing quarterback named Aaron Rodgers that the 49ers will be facing.

The 49ers are looking to win in Green Bay for the first time since November 4, 1990, and this week 1 challenge is a great way to kick off the season. It will be a huge test for the team, and this game could set the momentum for the rest of the season. So with that being said, are you ready for some football?!
