Panthers at Giants Week Three Preview

1-2 or 2-1? That’s the question for the Panthers this week.

Steve Smith is questionable with a knee injury for Thursday’s game against the New York Giants, but is expected to play.

The Panthers are coming off of a big win against the Saints, and the Giants had a hard-fought win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. Both teams are 1-1, and both have some injuries.

Giants WR Hakeen Nicks has been battling a foot injury, and has not practiced this week. Domenik Hixon is on the injury list for the team, and CBs Amukamara and Michael Coe are banged-up.

The last time both of these teams met, in 2010, Matt Moore was the starting quarterback for the Panthers. Cam Newton will give the Giants a tough go of it with a short pass attack, and hopefully running quick screen routes that will negate the effect that Jason Pierre-Paul and Justin Tuck will be able to have on the team. In addition, Newton will probably be throwing often to Steve Smith since the Giants have injuries at the CB position.

All in all, expect a tough matchup between two teams that both need a win on this high-stakes game.

Players I love for this week:  Justin Medlock (K); Louis Murphy (WR)
