Tampa Bay Buccaneer, Ronde Barber played in his 200th consecutive game Sunday afternoon against the Carolina Panthers.
Barber has been a cornerback for his first 15 seasons in the league, but for the first time, he will play at free safety for his 16 season in the NFL. For the first play of the game, Barber played at corner in a nickel package, making him a starter at cornerback for 200 consecutive games.
He has taken well to the free safety position and has even been helping out rookie safety, Mark Barron. The duo impressed in their first game.
Fans found out that Barron is a hard hitter and had several big plays during the game. Barber also had a great game. He had an interception and a sack. That makes his career totals 1,147 tackles, 28 sacks, and 44 interceptions.
The Buccaneers defense was very impressive, holding the Panthers to just 10 total yards rushing and started to remind me of the old Bucs D. They have young guys but that didn’t show. Coach Schiano’s discipline seems to be working. The offense looked good also. They had no turn overs but they need to score more. They cannot rely on franchise player, Connor Barth to win games for them.
This week versus the New York Giants will be a good challenge for the Bucs to see how good they truly can be this season.
