Tom Brady’s first trip to Centurylink field is one he won’t soon forget. In a game that seemed sure to end in a Patriots victory only minutes earlier, Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson connected with Sidney Rice for a 46-yard touchdown that put the Hawks up by 1 point with 1:18 remaining. When New England’s final drive came up empty, Centurylink field erupted in celebration.
What was touted as a matchup between the best offense in the NFL (New England) against the league’s best defense (Seattle), soon turned into a battle of quarterbacks….the legend against the rookie. Tom Brady looked solid throught the first 3 quarters, while Russell Wilson got off to a slow start. Just as the whispers of “bring it Matt Flynn” spread through the stadium, Wilson made an amazing comeback. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the game, with the Seahawks down 23-10, Seattle turned two of their last four drives into touchdowns.
As a result of this victory, Seattle is now tied for the first in the NFC West with Arizona and San Francisco. A greater victory, however, may be that Russell Wilson has finally silenced his doubters. Even though the Seahawks had already beat the Cowboys, Packers, and Panthers this season, this is the first game where the potential of Russell Wilson was on full display. While Pete Carroll had been touting this kid for months, it took a while for the Seattle fans to buy in.
And if he keeps this up, we’re sold.
