A few years back a friend and I were reminiscing about memories of football practice (or band practice in my case) and he shared that the team would gather to warm up with some hot Dr. Pepper afterward. Come to find out, this wasn’t as odd as it seemed. In the hot beverage line up, there are far fewer choices. Coco, coffee maybe some cider. This sounded like a delicious drink to sip while fighting that cold wind that tries to sneak in your jacket. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a way to “adult-it-up.” Whipped cream vodka takes the spicy flavors of Dr. Pepper and mellows it out to a nice sort of toasted marshmallow. It is divine. You may be thinking, “why not just add marshmallow vodka?” Good question! You can, certainly, I have found that with this particular drink though, vanilla, cake, marshmallow – they will all be good but the whipped cream has been the best.
Some pre-game camps have older kids so this would suit them as well – vodka free of course. If you’re watching your waist – there is the diet option and there is caffeine free and even caffeine and calorie free. Soda has gotten a bad rap due to over consumption but on occasion, like everything else, it can be alright. Simply heat the Dr. Pepper in the pot and keep it warm. To kick it up, pour a shot into your mug and ladle the warm Dr. Pepper over it. That’s it. Easy, tasty and toasty warm. Don’t add your alcohol to the pot as it will cook off over time.
