THIS article was posted on Forbes.com yesterday. In this article it lists the Most Liked and Least Liked players in the NFL. I actually hadn’t heard of the article until my husband said something to me this afternoon. Being the fun guy that he is he made me guess who was at the top for the least liked list. I hate guessing games, so I made him tell me because… seriously… who has time for guessing games anymore?
He stated that Ndamukong Suh was voted the #1 least liked player in the league by fans. When I heard this I chuckled at first and thought, “Doesn’t surprise me.” After the infamous leg stomp last year against the Green Bay Packers, who wouldn’t think that Suh is a dirty player? I won’t lie, the leg stomp was stupid. But what made the whole situation even more stupid was the fact that Suh fed into the media making it a big drama fest.
However, as I started to think more about the Forbes list, I came to the conclusion that I do not think that Suh should be ranked that high. Philadelphia Eagle’s starting quarterback, Michael Vick went to prison. PRISON. He was in the big house for almost a full year for operating illegal dog fighting. According to an article on ESPN, “He [Vick] admitted to being involved in the destruction of 6–8 dogs, by hanging or drowning.”
Do me a favor. Look at these puppies straight in the eye. Now, tell me that you don’t hate Vick’s guts right now.
Vick did make the Least Liked List at #3. But if you ask me, he should be #1. Another name that wasn’t on that list that I would have liked to see is Tim Tebow.
Tim Tebow was not on the Most Liked or Least Liked list, but he definitely scores a top five spot on my least liked list. I don’t want to go on a rant about how much I dislike Tebow because that could be a 5,000 word long article and Her Game Life recommends that I stay between 300-600. So in short, I dislike Tim Tebow because I do not appreciate the way he shoves his religion down everyone’s throat. I get it, he loves Jesus. But making sure that the other 3.3 million people that follow football knows that he loves Jesus too, is just not necessary. My idol is Barry Sanders. Everyone who has heard of Barry Sanders knows that the guy is a religious man. He never flaunted his beliefs to the masses and he always kept to himself. I think Tebow can take a lesson from Barry Sanders.
(Yup. That’s me and my husband with THE Barry Sanders.)
Anyway, people are saying that Suh is a ‘dirty player’ because of the way he acts on and off the field. Everyone has their opinion, but let’s not get past the point that he’s a good football player. He is the anchor for arguably one of the best defensive lines in the league. Suh’s also only been in the league for two years, which means he has lots of time to progress, get better, and mature. The hit on Chicago Bears quarterback, Jay Cutler, last Monday was a clean hit. The refs did not throw any flags and the league didn’t fine anyone. So I guess the whole point of my article is that Ndamukong Suh may be an idiot, but he’s a good player and I do not think he should be #1 on the Forbes.com list.
