Extras, Washington Redskins

A Redskins Thanksgiving

Every year for the Thanksgiving holiday, I find myself giving thanks for my family, friends, and the opportunities that have come my way through-out the year. This year, not only am I thankful for those things, I am thankful for something I haven’t witnessed in several years: my beloved Redskins playing the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. It may come as a shock to many to find that our family is planning our day around the Redskins playing, rather than vise-versa. As we all know, the Cowboys, year after year, play on Thanksgiving at home; however, this year it’s extra special because the game is one of the biggest rivalries in football.

We will still partake in our same tradition, drive to Ocean City, MD to be with my grandparents, eat dinner around 1 pm, watch football, see the “Festival of Lights” at Northside Park, and end the day going to see a Christmas movie in theaters with my family, and this year is no different. The only difference is the fact that we will be moving some of our plans back a little to make plenty of room for the Redskins game. Since the schedule was announced this past summer, I have been anticipating this game and as it approaches, I cannot contain my excitement. This is not only a huge game for Redskins nation because it’s on Thanksgiving, but it’s Dallas, people! I’m already finding myself yelling, “WE WANT DALLAS!” This year, let’s all take the opportunity to be thankful for everything in our lives, including health, wealth, and football.
