I don’t know where to begin with this game recap. It hurts me to even think about what happened this Sunday. The first quarter was a circus – excitement, disappointment, lots of yelling “what just happened”, and crazy defensive plays.
By the end of the first quarter, the bears were leading 28-2. Titans fumbled the ball on the first play of the game, followed by a blocked punt resulting in an immediate touchdown by the Bears. The Titans fumbled the ball again during the first quarter and the Bears had an interception for a touchdown. The Titans had a glimmer of hope when the Bears committed a holding penalty in the end zone, resulting in a Titan’s safety! Woo Hoo! Unfortunately, this excitement was short lived, as it seemed like the Titans players dropped the ball with every play. It was like their gloves had been greased, making it impossible to make a catch! In reality, the Bears defense, specifically Tillman, was punching balls out of Titan’s players hands left and right. The Bear’s defense dominated this quarter and ultimately, the game! Meanwhile, as my Titan’s are being trounced by the Bear’s defense, my fantasy football team is as well! Double disappointment! The Bear’s D had 31 fantasy football points against my team at the end of the first quarter.
The second and third quarter were somewhat quiet – or boring. Both offenses struggled and continued to stall out in the red zone, resulting in more field goals than touchdowns. I almost dozed off during the fourth quarter, as the Titans handed over their fifth turnover of the game.
Let’s not forget to give some praise when it is deserved: Chris Johnson made an 80-yard run for a touchdown and the Titan’s successfully converted for two extra points. This final push from the Titans, did not help much, as the Bear’s won overwhelmingly, 51-20.
Coach Munchak summed it up best in his post-game interview: “All three phases – offense, defense, and special teams – didn’t play well today….We made it easy on the Bears today, but they took advantage of the opportunities we gave them.”
Any hope for next week?
