New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers

A Healthy Troy Polamalu & Steelers Defense Secure First Win of the Season

Steelers vs. Jets

FINALLY! That’s really all I can really say about Sunday’s win for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the New York Jets 19-6 at Met Life Stadium. Now that the Steelers are 1-4 I have high expectations for them for the reason of the season, especially for this defense, who didn’t allow the Jets to even reach the end zone on Sunday.

As I have said before, this season has been a joy to see Troy Polamalu back on the field and so well-conditioned. Sunday’s game was no different. Troy had five tackles and seemed to be all over the field. And playing next to such a force like Troy, I’m sure brings out the best in his teammates. Ryan Clark completed eight tackles and one interception, the first turnover of the season for the Steelers, and Lawrence Timmons also intercepted in the fourth. So while this defense is starting to shape up, the Steelers offense is still lacking.

Though Ben Roethlisberger threw for 246 yards, and hit multiple receivers, the Steelers still only completed one touchdown. However, shout out to Shaun Suisham for bringing in this win and having a perfect record so far this season. Next week the Steelers face the Baltimore Ravens at 4:25pm at Heinz Field. Hopefully the Steelers offense will step up their game to be at least at par with their strong defense and Sunday’s game against the 3-3 Ravens will be another sweet victory for the black and gold.
