The Philadelphia Eagles record is not very pretty. The team and fans had high hopes after the first victory of the season against the Redskins, giving everyone reassurance that yes– this is our year.
But last Sunday’s game against one of the division’s rivals wasn’t very reassuring. The 15-7 loss to the then 1-6 Giants was another dip in the Philadelphia roller coaster. It marked the second straight game where the Philadelphia offense couldn’t score a touchdown. Nick Foles failed the concussion test after his concussion in the game against Dallas two games ago, so Michael Vick was back at it but left the game due to another hamstring injury. That left the rookie Matt Barkley to lead the Eagles, but left only a few turnovers, fumbles, and ultimately — no touchdowns.
Meanwhile in Kansas City, Andy Reid is sitting high and mighty with his 8-0 team. You can’t help but think if the Eagles’ roller coaster ride is the coach’s problem or the team he’s trying to control.
Who knows what will happen in the next game against Oakland? Matt Barkley may be starting, resulting in yet another quarterback change for the team. Something great needs to come of this to leave Eagles fans everywhere with a little more hope that this could be “the year.”
But can the Eagles climb yet another hill on the ride?
